KAMP-LINTFORT, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At electronica 2014 in Munich on November 11th to 14th IMST, German expert for wireless solutions presents the following innovations.
The iU880A-L – the newest member of the radio module family WiMOD – is a compact and cost–effective USB adapter based on the Long Range Radio module iM880A-L using Semtech’s LoRaTM modulation technology. The iM880A-L is a compact and low-cost Long Range Radio module designed for applications requiring long ranges and interference immunity like industrial control, security, building automation, smart metering, sensor networks, smart cities, IoT- and M2M-applications. It achieves a link budget of up to 156 dB and therefore enables ranges of more than 15,000 m in a rural environment. “LoRaTM solves the traditional design compromise between range, interference immunity and energy consumption”, explains Heinz Syrzisko, Head of Wireless Solutions at IMST. For development purposes IMST provides the Starter Kit SK-iM880A and the LoRaMote for evaluation of the performance.
Beside the LoRa solutions the product family for Smart Metering Applications – based on the iM871A – will be presented. The family consists of the module itself, the Wireless M-Bus USB adapter iM871A-usb and the Wireless M-Bus Analyzer PA-iM871A, a tool to monitor the Wireless M-Bus communication according to EN 13757-4. "The PA-iM871A provides rapid troubleshooting and maintenance in Wireless M-Bus networks”, explains Mr. Syrzisko.
The new 24 GHz radar product line will be presented in conjunction with the SENTIRE platform, an intelligent multirotor flight system. The lightweight and compact micro radar module has a multi-channel receiver to detect the target angle in addition to the conventional measurement capabilities "distance" and "speed". "The exceptionally high sensitivity enables the detection of targets at distances of up to several hundred meters ", explains Siegfried Schulze, responsible for the business segment radar and RPAS / UAV at IMST. "Sense & Avoid, Anti-Collision-Protection or Distance-Control to target objects can be realized with the radar system. This will create a new application area for wireless sensor systems and in particular for the LoRaTM technology. The data of several "smart flying sensors" can be transmitted with the iM880A-L over a long range to ground stations."
In addition to the LoRa and radar solutions IMST will present new innovative antennas for RFID applications and high gain antennas for data transmissions from RPAS / UAV to ground.
