“Lights, Camera, Save!” Video Contest Underway

Burke & Herbert Bank Accepting Entries Until December 1

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--With the rising costs of college, it’s more important than ever for teens to be financially fit. How much do today’s teens know about using money wisely? Burke & Herbert Bank’s participation in the American Bankers Association’s Lights, Camera, Save! national video contest seeks to answer that very question while giving teens the opportunity to win up to $5,000.

“Lights, Camera, Save! challenges young adults to create videos to communicate the value of saving and inspire others to become smart money managers,” explained Terry Cole, Senior Vice President at Burke & Herbert Bank. “We have a long-standing commitment to financial literacy so we’re excited about supporting this program. It gives students throughout northern Virginia a great opportunity to learn about the importance of saving in an interesting and creative way and gives participants the chance to get a head start on reaching their savings goals.”

To participate, students (ages 13-18) create a 90-second video on saving and using money wisely and submit a link to the video along with a completed entry form to the Bank by December 1, 2014. Complete details are available at burkeandherbertbank.com/promotions/lights-camera-save.aspx. Burke & Herbert Bank will host the first round of judging and submit one winning video to compete at the national level. Students in the national competition can win $1,000, $2,500 or the grand prize of $5,000, plus a scholarship for an educator from their school to attend the Jump$tart National Educator Conference.

"The contest is meant to be fun and exciting but when all is said and done, we hope teens will take action and develop life-long saving habits,” Cole added.
