TOKYO & JOHOR, Malaysia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Showa Denko (SDK)(Tokyo:4004) holds today an opening ceremony of new aluminum casting plant of SHOTIC Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (STM) in Johor, Malaysia.
STM will be the SDK Group’s first production base outside Japan to cast aluminum. With a forging plant of SHOTIC Singapore Pte. Ltd. (STS), the Group has established an integrated aluminum forging and casting system in ASEAN region. STM will start mass production in November, and will meet lively demand for fine aluminum products through quick response to car manufacturers’ and parts suppliers’ needs.
“In its medium-term business plan, PEGASUS Phase 2, SDK positions SHOTICTM business as base and stable business,” said Hideo Ichikawa, CEO of Showa Denko. “By cultivating Asian market and focusing on development of new-product which automotive industry expects, SDK aims to further solidify the foundation of SHOTICTM business.”

2. About SHOTICTM business |
| SDK has an integrated aluminum casting and forging facility at Kitakata, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, and two aluminum forging subsidiaries outside Japan, STS in Singapore, and SHOTIC Europa Industria de Aluminio, Lda. in Portugal. With the completion of the STM’s plant, SDK strengthens its aluminum products supply system for Asian market. At the same time, by securing casting capacity at two locations, SDK ensures the security of its supply chain. |
