SAN CARLOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MarkLogic Corporation, the leading Enterprise NoSQL database platform and Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA), a global leader in rapid-fire, easy-to-use business analytics software, today announced that Tableau now offers a native, optimized and fully-supported MarkLogic® Enterprise NoSQL connector that allows organizations to easily use Tableau for analytics on all their MarkLogic data.
MarkLogic is a NoSQL database that is supported through a live connection to Tableau allowing business analysts to gain immediate insight into business performance.
The variety and volume of new types of data are rapidly growing in the enterprise creating integration challenges but also opportunities for predictive analytics, competitive and customer intelligence, sentiment analysis and surveillance. Traditional relational databases were built for yesterday’s structured data and cannot easily provide insight from modern fast-changing data types, or their relationships and metadata.
MarkLogic Enterprise NoSQL database technology is schema-agnostic with the ability to quickly combine and search all types of today’s data including email, documents, structured values, machine data, social media and more, and allows non-technical business users to run analytics on new unstructured data types as well as legacy relational data sets. Examples of data that will be easier to analyze using MarkLogic and Tableau include:
- Open text fields found in your CRM/ERP system.
- Customer sentiment by correlating social media data with point-of-sale systems and websites.
- Text fields in patient records to identify adverse events to improve patient care.
- Regulatory compliance reports based on data from disparate systems.
“MarkLogic shares our mission to help people see and understand data. We are excited to offer this direct connector that will allow our joint customers to connect with their enterprise data in just a few clicks,” said Dan Jewett, vice president of product management for Tableau Software.
The connector news is the latest evolvement in a multi-year relationship between Tableau and MarkLogic. The connector is based on Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), and supports both live connections and extracts. It is available with the latest Tableau update.
“The time has come for enterprises to derive real value from all of their data to better understand customers, operations and see new ways to monetize based on data insights,” said Joe Pasqua, senior vice president, product strategy, MarkLogic. “Through the partnership with Tableau, we are helping businesses find the information that matters, so that it can be visualized and shared across the organization and in real-time.”
