Exelis to Launch Next-Generation Electronic Warfare Capability at AOC Annual Symposium

AOC 2014

CLIFTON, N.J.--()--Exelis (NYSE: XLS) will debut Disruptor SRx™, an adaptive, multifunctional electronic warfare (EW) capability during the Association of Old Crows (AOC) International Symposium and Convention at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, District of Columbia, Oct. 6-9.

This smart response system represents a shift from traditional EW – in which a single system performs a specific, pre-determined function – to an agile approach that enables multiple functions, as well as the ability to switch between them in real time. This flexibility allows the system to respond immediately to changing mission needs and enables warfighters to succeed against evolving threats. The launch of the new capability will take place Oct. 7 at 4:30 p.m., at a special event at the Exelis booth, number 201.

Disruptor SRx is software definable and applicable to airborne, sea and land-based platforms. It can perform a variety of EW missions, including electronic attack, electronic protect, electronic support measures, electronic intelligence and communications jamming. In addition, building on advances in microelectronics, Disruptor SRx is well suited to unmanned platforms with its decreased size, weight and power requirements.

The technology’s multifunctional, open-architecture design eliminates the need for spare parts for multiple devices, resulting in lower life-cycle costs. Disruptor SRx reacts and adjusts to complex, contested electronic environments and is easily upgradeable to support greater flexibility and affordability.

“Disruptor SRx is an important milestone in the company’s long history of innovating to protect against evolving electronic threats,” said Joe Rambala, vice president and general manager of the Exelis integrated electronic warfare systems business. “Our new capability is a disruptive technology in the sense that it can both perform multiple functions and shift between functions in real time. Our customers told us they needed a smart capability to address increasingly sophisticated threats, and with Disruptor SRx, we are delivering.”

At the Symposium, Rambala will also lead a panel discussion, Oct. 7, on cognitive EW and its impact on future electronic attack capabilities.

Disruptor SRx joins the suite of electronic warfare technologies designed to enable domestic and international customers to perform their critical missions. Leveraging its decades of innovation and experience in the electromagnetic spectrum, Exelis is focusing on EW as one of its four strategic growth platforms.
