NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Link to Fitch Ratings' Report: U.S. Utilities Capex Trend Dashboard
http://www.fitchratings.com/creditdesk/reports/report_frame.cfm?rpt_id=780248
Fitch Ratings has published a dashboard discussing capital spending trend in the U.S. utilities sector.
Fitch estimates capex in the sector will decline by 4% on average in 2015 and 2016, after a period of rapid growth since 2009. Fitch believes this trend is driven by the completion of environmental compliance projects and projected reduction in capacity additions.
Fitch also believes the announced plans may be understated and will be revised upward, as utilities turn their focus to transmission investments, reliability enhancements, pipeline infrastructure integrity and safety. Additionally, pending environmental control mandates associated with coal ash and carbon emissions could also boost spending.
