SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--W2O Group, a network of complementary integrated marketing and communications firms, announced today the opening of a San Diego office to serve a growing client base and strengthen its presence in key markets for the growth of its health and technology businesses.
The Company has hired David Walsey as Managing Director of BrewLife, a W2O Group company, to run and grow this office, particularly in the areas of biotechnology, life sciences, medical device, healthcare delivery, digital health and consumer and B2B technology.
Walsey joins W2O Group from Optimer Pharmaceuticals, where he served as Vice President of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations, delivering business solutions for corporate objectives spanning corporate communications, investor and media relations, business development and crisis communications. In his new role, he will provide senior communications and investor relations counsel to clients. He has more than 15 years of experience leading communications functions for biopharmaceutical companies and 10 years as an attorney in private practice.
“I joined W2O Group because of the excellent team and the potential of the firm’s platform to fuse strategic communications counsel with unique and industry-leading analytics, creative and digital capabilities,” said Walsey. “The strength of the leadership team and the capacity to provide differentiated value to clients is fueling W2O’s leadership and continued growth. I want to contribute and be a part of that.”
Before Optimer, which was bought by Cubist Pharmaceuticals in 2013, Walsey led investor relations and corporate communications at such companies as Arena and Sarepta (now AVI Pharma) and spearheaded his own law firm during almost a decade in private practice. He is also a member of NIRI and its San Diego chapter.
“San Diego is an innovation hub and an important market for BrewLife,” said President Paulo Simas, who is headquartered in San Francisco. “David is a distinguished communications and business strategist whose entrepreneurial spirit aligns with our vision to be an agency of the future with a strong presence up and down the West Coast where innovative businesses have thrived for years.”
