FLOWER MOUND, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Heritage Health Solutions, Inc. (Heritage) announced today that it has received a Best of the Best award for 2014 by U.S. Veterans Magazine. This award falls under the category of Top Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and recognizes diverse companies that provide outstanding outreach and accessibility to veteran populations.
The annual review is an evaluation of the nation’s employers, initiatives, government agencies and educational institutions with the goal of opening up employment, business and supplier opportunities within the federal government and corporate America for veterans, transitioning service members, disabled veterans, spouses, and veteran business owners.
“Veterans are entrepreneurial, assume high levels of trust and are resilient,” said Mona Lisa Faris, President and Publisher of the U.S. Veterans Magazine. “This magazine was created to support our troops, and we are proud to recognize other businesses that are also making veterans a priority.”1
Founded in 2005 by a service disabled veteran, Heritage is in its ninth year of providing pharmacy first fill and emergent prescription medications to more than one million military veterans at more than 600 VA medical clinic locations across the country.
Beyond that, Heritage also offers many outreach programs to help improve the lives of veterans and their families through its Help a Hero program, which launched in 2012. Through this program, Heritage partners with many local charities and veteran organizations to identify and assist veterans in special times of need. Last year, Heritage’s Help a Hero initiative provided material to repair a disabled veteran’s home, supplied pontoon boats for a weekend fishing excursion for veterans and their families and hosted wounded warriors at Texas Rangers baseball games.
Most recently, the company donated $25,000 to Texas Woman’s University in support of its Project INVEST program, which advocates a healthy and enjoyable life through adaptive sports for injured veterans, service members and their families. These sports include a variety of wheelchair sports, such as basketball, indoor soccer and tennis, as well as other adaptive activities like sit volleyball, rock climbing, water volleyball, goal ball and kayak soccer.
“It is always encouraging to hear that our efforts in support of veterans are recognized, and through such an honored way,” said James Rosengren, MHA, FACHE, Board Chair, and Chief Executive Officer of Heritage. “We accept this award with great gratitude.”
