PEKIN, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aventine Renewable Energy has named J.B. Voss as merchandising manager for the 45-million-gallon Nebraska Energy LLC Vogelbusch plant and the 110-million-gallon Aventine Aurora West Delta T plant in Aurora, Nebraska.
He is primarily responsible for corn procurement and merchandising all wet and dry distillers grain for the two Aurora facilities. Voss will also provide leadership for the addition of two more merchandisers to be located at the Aurora West facility. For his new position he will relocate from Kansas City to the Aurora area.
He has 25 years of experience in commodity markets and the ethanol and biofuels industries. His career focus has been on merchandising feedstock purchases and coproduct selling at large agricultural processing plants.
Voss worked for 17 years at Archer Daniels Midland as feedstock and coproduct merchandiser at several of their soy plants in the southeast and southwest regions of the U.S. During this time he advanced to the position of senior grain and coproduct merchandiser, focusing on grain markets in the southwestern U.S., where he oversaw sales and logistics for $70 million in direct sales.
Most recently Voss was a merchandiser for 6 years with Commodity Specialists Co., based in Minneapolis, where he merchandised across an extensive portfolio of coproducts spanning the southwestern, midwestern and eastern U.S. Prior to that he was vice president of business development for 2 years with Alternative Energy Sources Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri. There he developed two plant sites to shovel-readiness while also developing and analyzing various grain and coproduct merchandising models for private equity funds.
Voss holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois.
