EDISON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Starborn Industries, Inc., a leading fastener manufacturer and distributor, today announced the availability of its Deckfast® Fascia System, a fastening system for deck fascia boards. The Deckfast Fascia System is designed to accommodate the large amount of expansion and contraction that can occur with deck fascia boards due to changes in temperature and moisture. The Deckfast Fascia System consists of two components: the Fascia Tool, a pre-drilling and countersinking tool (based on Starborn’s Smart-Bit® technology), and Fascia Screws, color matched screws that are available in Headcote® stainless steel or epoxy-coated carbon steel.
Starborn developed the Deckfast Fascia System in response to overwhelming demand from contractors who consistently experience performance issues with deck fascia boards. “Callbacks for issues related to deck fascia boards are probably the most common and persistent problem for deck builders and homeowners,” said Starborn’s Scott Nowatzki. “Because of the way these boards are installed, and the fact that they are prone to large amounts of expansion and contraction, traditional fastening methods are simply not reliable. The Deckfast Fascia System offers a real and complete solution to this problem.”
The Fascia System accommodates dimensional changes in fascia boards by creating an over-sized hole for the specially designed Fascia Screw, which allows the fascia board to hang securely and “float” along the deck’s rim joist without applying a great amount of force on the fastener.
The Deckfast Fascia System is sold and packaged in two separate components: (1) the Fascia Tool for pre-drilling and countersinking and (2) 100-piece Fascia Screw packs.
