JUNO BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Document Storage Systems, Inc. (DSS), the leading provider of VistA-based software development and support, today announced its customizable vxVistA inpatient and ambulatory electronic health record (EHR) modules have been tested and certified under the Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB) program through Drummond Group, Inc. (DGI) for the 2014 edition. As a result of the certification, hospitals using vxVistA inpatient and ambulatory modules to demonstrate meaningful use of technology are qualified to receive federal stimulus funds.
“By successfully installing and using the ONC Certified vxVistA EHR from DSS, Ramsey County has leapt the initial hurdle of meeting the Minnesota Interoperable EHR mandate for 2015,” said Shannon Kennedy, Information Services Manager at Ramsey County Human Services. “We look forward to working with our partners at DSS to fully comply with the interoperability requirements of this mandate.”
With vxVistA open source integration capabilities, the inpatient and ambulatory modules are scalable and interoperable with outside solutions, including behavioral health, dental, radiology, chemotherapy management and clinical decision support, among others. This connectivity enables providers’ access to a more complete understanding of a patient’s health record by providing the transparency needed to enhance clinical care delivery. Certification of vxVistA takes the pressure off customers traditionally leveraging disparate systems and supports them as they as they attest to Meaningful Use (MU) criteria.
“Receiving ONC-ACB Certification from Drummond Group is of upmost importance as we continuously work to support our clients in meeting the evolving requirements of the healthcare landscape,” said Mark Byers, CEO and president of DSS. “Our goal from the beginning has been to ensure our clients achieve interoperability across all departments and systems, while meeting core criteria for MU. We’re proud of this certification that will help our clients deliver enhanced care through integrated EHR technology, taking pressure off this portion of care delivery.”
DGI’s ONC-ACB certification program certifies that EHRs meet the Meaningful Use criteria for either eligible provider or hospital technology. In turn, healthcare providers using the EHR systems of certified vendors are qualified to receive federal stimulus monies upon demonstrating meaningful use of the technology—a key component of the federal government’s push to improve clinical care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by U.S. healthcare providers. As a next step, DSS is working to receive complete EHR certification by the end of the year.
