Mitigation Solutions USA Announces the Release of Credits for Gin City Mitigation Bank

Mitigation Solutions USA (MSUSA) is pleased to announce that Gin City Mitigation Bank in Texas is now approved and has wetland credits available.

HOUSTON--()--Gin City Mitigation Bank was recently awarded the initial release of wetland credits by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District. Located in northeast Harris County, the bank will help offset unavoidable environmental impacts to wetlands in an area booming with development and economic growth.

Gin City Mitigation Bank will service Chambers, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and San Jacinto Counties. The service area’s watershed includes North Galveston Bay, Buffalo-San Jacinto, West Fork San Jacinto, and East Fork San Jacinto. Gin City currently consists of over 514 acres of restored habitat with over 250,000 native trees planted and the construction of berms and water control structures.

This bank is a key component to streamlining the permitting process for all development including the oil and gas industry (E&P, midstream, and downstream), government infrastructure, residential growth, and commercial enterprise. Gin City is designed to be an integral vehicle for the sustained prosperity of the Texas Gulf Coast.

Why Purchase Credits?

Purchasing credits from an approved mitigation bank is the preferred means of offsetting unavoidable environmental impacts to wetlands, streams and endangered species.

“Purchasing credits from an approved mitigation bank offers the developer or company peace of mind,” explains MSUSA Vice President Troy Madrigal. “The mitigation bank retains liability for the restoration or preservation of the bank, so the purchaser can buy the credits and move on with their project in a simple, efficient fashion.” As the bank’s progress is approved and required milestones are monitored by the USACE, this option is the best for healthy restoration of the environment and water quality.
