Crown Uniform & Linen Service Congratulates 12 Year Old NH Chef

BOSTON--()--There is no age requirement for success when it comes to cooking; a fact well proven by 12 year old Jessica Bakas, of New Hampshire. Jessica’s family knew how much she loved to cook, so when her father heard about “The Healthy Lunchtime Kids Challenge,” he encouraged Jessica to enter.

The Healthy Lunchtime Kids Challenge is a contest that promotes 8 to 12 year old kids to take action in the kitchen and get excited about eating healthy foods.

Jessica knows that great cooking is both art and science. The best chefs begin with fresh healthy ingredients and create a dish that is as visually appealing as it is delicious. After much deliberation, she decided to make Salmon with Sautéed Veggies (Portabella Mushrooms and Broccoli ) and a Tricolor Salad (tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and avocado).

In April Jessica was notified that she was one of three finalists for the state of New Hampshire, and in June she was announced as the winner. She received a free trip to The White House to attend the 3rd Kids State Dinner with The First Lady Michelle Obama. Jessica describes her achievement as “an amazing experience and a great start to her hopefully long culinary journey!”

Jessica loves to cook everything and anything, and loves to eat foods from any culture. Her goals are to go to a culinary college and run a successful restaurant. One day Jessica would love to have her own Food Network show and travel the world to gain international culinary skills. Her recent experience has prompted her to add a new goal to her list: to become a White House Chef like Chef Sam Kass.

Crown Uniform & Linen Service is proud to encourage young people like Jessica in their career goals. As an award winning, aspiring chef, it seemed only right that Jessica should have her own professional chef coat and so Crown has gifted Jessica with a personalized chef coat to commemorate the occasion.

Crown hopes that Jessica will wear her new chef coat with pride as she pursues her culinary dream.
