NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Beyond great fashion for back-to-school, Macy’s is giving students a reason to cheer with exciting events and contests kicking off this season. Beginning in September, schools across the country can submit a one-take lip-dub video, performed to a remix of the classic hit “Be True to Your School,” for a chance to win Macy’s $50,000 All-School Lip Dub Challenge. Macy’s will also be rolling into college campuses nationwide to shuttle students to shopping parties at local Macy’s locations where they will browse the latest fashions and receive mini-manicures and makeovers.
“The back-to-school season is always a special time for families, and Macy’s loves being part of that excitement each year as our customers’ one-stop shopping destination,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “This year, we’re taking the fun up a notch with engaging new events, contests and promotions that include everything from the opportunity for schools to win big cash prizes for showing off their school spirit to shopping parties for college students at schools nationwide.”
Macy’s $50,000 All-School Lip Dub Challenge
Does your school have what it takes to be the champions of Macy’s All-School Lip Dub Challenge? This fall, Macy’s is inviting the students, faculty and staff of elementary, middle, high schools and college to submit their one-take lip dub video, performed to singer/songwriter Tim Myers’ version of The Beach Boys classic song “Be True to Your School.” The winning entry will be awarded $25,000, followed by $15,000 for second place, with the third place winner taking home $10,000 for their school.
A lip dub is a music video where the participants lip-sync to a song while performing a creative, choreographed routine filmed in a single, continuous take. No audio is recorded during the take and the song is added in editing.
For the All-School Lip Dub Challenge, Macy’s is looking for America’s most talented lip dubbin’ school community that can create a video to wow the competition. In the spirit of being true to your school, the lip dub video must be filmed on the school’s property and school attire is encouraged, so students can break out their athletic uniforms, band costumes or other school apparel. Entries will be evaluated based on school spirit and participation, creativity and execution.
To enter, visit Macy’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/macys to download the official song audio of “Be True to Your School,” create a video featuring your school community lip-syncing in one continuous take, then add in the music during the editing process. The final video submission should use the entire song and be less than 10 minutes long. From September 4 through October 10, 2014, an adult school representative or faculty member can upload the final video to youtube.com/macys and share a brief statement (maximum of 500 characters) on how the school would use the prize. The winner will be revealed on Macy’s YouTube channel in late October.
