Colorado Technical University Introduces New “Fast Track” Prior Learning Assessments

Students Can Save Up to 30% on Tuition and Reduce Time to Graduate By Demonstrating Proficiency in Core Subjects

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--()--Colorado Technical University (CTU) has launched Fast Track, a set of technology-driven learning assessments that allow students to earn credit toward their Associate or Bachelor’s degree for the knowledge and skills they bring with them to the university. Offered at no charge, Fast Track allows CTU students to demonstrate proficiency in core subjects, thereby reducing the cost of their program and the time it takes to complete their degree by as much as 30 percent.

Providing Students Better Paths to Graduation

Understanding that adult learning also takes place outside the classroom, Fast Track was designed to help military service members, veterans, and students who have earned college credit or meaningful on-the-job experience to earn credit for their existing knowledge. Fast Track can help students complete their degree more quickly and save money by reducing the need to take classes that cover what he or she already knows.

“This program demonstrates our respect for adult learners and the knowledge they bring with them to college,” said Dr. Connie Johnson, CTU’s Provost and Chief Academic Officer. “By earning credit through Fast Track for knowledge gained in prior education, military training and real world experience, our students are able to focus their time and tuition dollars on gaining the new skills they need to complete their degree; and graduate more quickly.”

Today, more than 78 percent of CTU undergraduate students earn their degree using some transfer credits. Fast Track reinforces CTU’s commitment to serve the needs of today’s career-oriented students by acknowledging what they already know and helping them learn something new.

How CTU Fast Track Works

Fast Track assessments are powered by CTU’s Intellipath™ learning technology, which adapts to each student to deliver a highly-personalized online education experience. Each assessment is designed to cover key concepts required to pass a typical course and students have up seven days to demonstrate a minimum threshold of prior knowledge. Those who pass the assessment course will earn proficiency credit at CTU. There is no penalty if a student does not pass the assessment. Credits are only honored at CTU.
