MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Medica Research Institute announces the creation of the Distinguished Chair in Health Policy. The position will be held by a nationally recognized research expert in health policy. The chair will serve as a national policy expert as well as a mentor and collaborator for Institute colleagues and partners.
“Serving as a national voice for health policy and fostering the next generation of health researchers are two major tenants of the Medica Research Institute,” says Kristina Bloomquist, Institute executive director. “The Distinguished Chair in Health Policy Research will play a key role in these efforts, as well as serve as a senior leader for the Institute.”
The Medica Research Institute has launched a national search to fill the position, which will focus on building a program in health policy research. The chair will provide intellectual leadership to inform health policy, grow externally funded research, mentor junior investigators, and maximize research opportunities with colleagues and partners. The chair will be encouraged to retain any adjunct faculty status with current institutions to foster collaborative work.
The Distinguished Chair in Health Policy will serve as a national policy expert who will contribute to the field through high-profile journal publications, op-ed commentaries, public testimony, and other platforms.
The Institute will seek professionals with at least a decade of health policy research experience and a doctoral degree in economics, health policy, health services, public health, sociology or a related field. A professional with a medical degree and relevant experience also would be considered. A strong academic publication record is vital.
