RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mavenir Systems® (NYSE:MVNR), a leading provider of software-based networking solutions, today announced that Mavenir’s next generation IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) core network and Telephony Application Server (TAS) is commercially launched and carrying live Voice over LTE (VoLTE) traffic.
VoLTE is an exciting new voice service that is the next big innovation in the evolution of 4G LTE networks and brings both voice and data onto the same radio layer. With VoLTE, mobile subscribers can make crystal clear voice calls with faster call setup times while being able to simultaneously enjoy lightning fast 4G LTE data speeds.
With a wave of recent announcements by mobile operators, momentum for VoLTE is surging. Led by recent commercial launches in the U.S. market, VoLTE is on its way to becoming a globally available mass market service and with 14 tier one mobile operators globally using its VoLTE solution, Mavenir is a leader in this next major phase of 4G LTE network evolution.
“Mavenir continues to lead in the deployment of Voice over LTE in key markets,” said Pardeep Kohli, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mavenir Systems. “We are working with tier one operators globally to transform their networks to 4G LTE and introduce new and innovative services.”
Mobile operators globally have selected Mavenir’s converged IMS voice solution to provide VoLTE, as well as Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi) services. Mavenir’s technology is designed to ensure that VoLTE and VoWi-Fi are compatible with existing network services, such as prepaid and ring-back tones, thus providing a seamless user experience for mobile subscribers whether they are on 3G, 4G LTE or Wi-Fi access networks.
T-Mobile’s recent VoLTE launch was enabled using Mavenir’s converged IMS voice solution, which was first deployed to launch Wi-Fi Calling in 2011. T-Mobile leveraged those early investments in Wi-Fi Calling to accelerate network readiness and launch VoLTE service.
Mavenir provides the end-to-end IMS solution including key IMS components such as the CSCF (Call Session Control Function), Session Border Controller (SBC), Telephony Application Server (TAS), as well as professional services to perform verification and integration testing to ensure successful end-to-end service interworking.
