MT. PROSPECT, Ill. & CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rauland Responder® is the first nurse call solution vendor to achieve certification in the FairWarning Ready® for Healthcare Applications program, the companies announced today.
FairWarning Ready® for Healthcare Applications is a comprehensive program designed to dramatically reduce the time and expense required to implement patient privacy auditing across EHRs and other healthcare applications. FairWarning Ready® for Healthcare Applications is based on work with the company’s customers representing over 6,500 facilities, and leverages FairWarning®’s production support for over 250 different applications. The program provides a comprehensive, practical blueprint for implementing affordable and wide-scale privacy auditing for care providers and other organizations seeking strategies for regulatory compliance and ensuring patient privacy.
Using FairWarning® to proactively monitor, Responder helps organizations reduce the risk of data breaches, security threats and non-compliance. This can result in reduced overall integration and management costs, increased patient privacy compliance, automated auditing and improved reporting processes. FairWarning® auditing of Rauland Responder helps organizations comply with global, federal and state privacy healthcare laws by alerting the organization to inappropriate access of patient records in the nurse call system and correlation with other user activities outside of the Rauland-Borg system.
Under the new certification, all logins at the nurse call level are communicated directly to FairWarning® for analysis of potential privacy violations, unauthorized access events and incident management when inappropriate access is discovered. Identified incidents can be displayed on a user dashboard for use by Privacy and Compliance personnel for incident investigation and remediation. Triggers can be established to alert specified personnel when a suspicious event occurs.
Rauland said that with the FairWarning Ready® certification for Responder nurse call, hospitals can increase the accuracy of their patient privacy monitoring by gaining the ability to know when, who and how patient data has been accessed through the nurse call system. This lets administrators flag suspicious events for review and verification.
“Patient privacy breaches are a continuing concern to both patients and healthcare providers alike,” said Maureen Pajerski, EVP and CMO at Rauland-Borg. “With the advent and proliferation of electronic health records, we are collaborating with FairWarning® to ensure that our customers can log and analyze applications and related events made via our nurse call solution – critical to comprehensive protection and privacy of private healthcare information.”
“We are pleased to be working with Rauland and applaud the certification of the first Nurse Call system. By adding new solutions to the FairWarning Ready® program we are helping our customers reduce the time and expense associated with performing proactive privacy monitoring,” says Shane Whitlatch, FairWarning® Executive Vice President of Customer Value Creation.
