Norman’s Hallmark to celebrate 75th anniversary with four new stores and 75 days of special promotions

Founded in Trenton in 1939, the company now counts 46 stores in Pennsylvania and New Jersey

NEWTOWN, Pa.--()--Norman’s Hallmark, a family-owned and operated card and gift specialty retailer in the metro Philadelphia area, announced today the acquisition of two stores and the opening of two new stores as it celebrates 75 years in business.

Founded in Trenton, N.J. in 1939, Norman’s Hallmark will celebrate its anniversary starting in September with 75 days of promotions and contests. The culmination of their celebration will be a charitable event for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer and a special prize pack giveaway at all stores during Norman’s famous Black Friday weekend sale, beginning Nov. 28.

“The first Norman’s opened the year the United States entered World War II and the movies 'Gone with the Wind' and 'The Wizard of Oz' were released, which means we’ve done something right to thrive for so long,” said Howard Henschel, the company’s CEO and president. “Between our relationship with Hallmark, our dedicated staff and loyal customers, we’re excited about what the next 75 years – and beyond – will bring.”

Norman’s Hallmark’s newest acquisitions are in Hillsborough, N.J. and Gilbertsville, Pa., both of which will open in July. Two new locations will open this fall in Thorndale, Pa., and Howell, N.J., bringing the total number of stores to 46, with nearly 700 employees.

The company anticipates continued growth within New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Norman’s emphasis will remain on providing quality brands and great service – two primary factors that helped it become one of the largest independent Hallmark Gold Crown retailers, with more than 300,000 Crown Rewards members.

Key partnerships with Hallmark and trusted brands such as Vera Bradley, Yankee Candle, Life is Good, Malden, Ty, Crabtree & Evelyn, Willow Tree, Byers’ Choice, Lenox, Enesco, Primitives by Kathy, Tervis, Asher’s and Godiva have propelled the growth and success of Norman’s.

“Beyond offering great brands, we invest heavily in training our managers and associates so they can exceed our customers’ expectations,” Henschel said. “The unparalleled passion, knowledge and dedication they bring has allowed Norman’s to help our customers connect with those they care about for the last 75 years.”
