LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mayor Eric Garcetti today announced the appointment of Courtney Reum as Los Angeles Convention Center Authority Commissioner. The Los Angeles Convention Center is the focal point of the City's tourism strategy: to drive economic development and job creation by attracting convention business, out of town visitors, and the related hotel, restaurant, and entertainment revenue they generate.
"I’m honored by this appointment and Mayor Garcetti’s faith in me during this crucial phase in creating Los Angeles’ future," said Reum. "I’ve now been a resident long enough to consider myself an Angeleno so I look forward to working hard in the best interests of the community and making an immediate impact."
Reum is an innovative entrepreneur with a background in building consumer products brands. Prior to starting his current company VEEV Spirit® with his brother Carter, Courtney began his career as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs in New York working with such brands as Procter & Gamble, Under Armour and Vitamin Water.
Courtney has been honored by several entrepreneurial publications such as the “30 Under 30” list, the Inc “500 fastest growing private companies in America,” Richard Branson’s best-selling book “Screw Business as Usual” and most recently the Goldman Sachs Builders + Innovators 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs. He is also an active member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) both locally in Los Angeles and internationally. Courtney grew up in Chicago and holds a B.A. with distinction (Economics and Philosophy) from Columbia University in New York and is an alumni of Harvard Business School.
Reum was officially confirmed and sworn in on June 3, 2014 and will commence his term immediately.
