BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fresh Produce, a leading apparel brand for women, is proud to celebrate the brand’s 30-year history of producing American-made products and supporting our nation’s economy.
Over the last 12 months, 80 percent of all Fresh Produce clothing sold was made in America. In comparison, the American Apparel and Footwear Association reports that less than five percent of all apparel sold in the U.S. in 2013 was made in the U.S. Fresh Produce directly supports nearly 300 U.S. jobs in 26 company-owned retail locations and in the company’s Gardena, Calif.-based warehouse, while supporting more than 400 independent retailers who sell Fresh Produce clothing across the nation.
Supporting the USA has always been an important part of Fresh Produce’s DNA since the first time its founders, husband-and-wife team Thom and Mary Ellen Vernon, sold their popular silk-screened T-shirts at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Now, almost 30 years later, Fresh Produce has expanded its line well beyond silk-screened apparel to include comfortable clothing with inspiring colors, vibrant prints, and stylish designs. With every expansion, Fresh Produce has continued to hold strong to its “Made in USA” ideals.
“From day one we’ve made a conscious effort to support our own backyard,” says Mary Ellen Vernon, founder and chief creative officer of Fresh Produce. “Fresh Produce’s commitment to celebrating and supporting the artisan spirit, craftsmanship and quality of American-made products remains at the forefront of who we are.”
Fresh Produce recently engaged digital marketing agency Location3 Media and film production company Solidus to share its American-made story. It’s an in-depth look into the local partnerships the brand has established over the years to support U.S. production.
Fresh Produce is standing behind its 30-year history of producing American-made products by launching a military appreciation program for the servicemen and women of our country. U.S. active duty, veterans, National Guard, reserves, and their family or dependents can now receive 10 percent off every purchase of Fresh Produce apparel in-stores and online.
“We believe that, just as supporting American-made products is vital to our economy, so too is supporting the men and women who protect and preserve our freedoms each and every day,” says John Harris, chief marketing officer of Fresh Produce.
