Nanjing 2014 YOG Countdown Event “Collects” Smiles in Singapore to Spread Passion for Coming Games

NANJING, China--()--The "Young Smiles from the World” promotional event was held in Singapore on June 14th and 15th as part of a series of events being held around the world to promote the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG). The Singapore event broke the traditional event mold by foregoing a stage and instead having the mascot, NanjingLeLe, get together with local young people in the streets in flash mob-like fashion. Venues included spots popular with young people such as the Isetan shopping mall, Orchard Road, Serangoon Road and the VivoCity shopping mall. There, NanjingLeLe interacted with the people, posed for pictures and danced the “1, 2, 3 YOG!” dance. Pictures were also taken of young people smiling behind special YOG photo frames.

The fact that Singapore was the first city to host the Youth Olympic Games, made this series of promotional events even more meaningful. The two-day promotion involved three major activities. In the “collecting young smiles from around the world” activity, nearly 1,000 smile faces were photographed to create fond moments for the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games. During this activity, NanjingLeLe went to Orchard Road to take pictures with the young people in order to encourage them to get more involved in sports and live a healthy lifestyle. During the “Give me fire! Nanjing 2014 YOG Virtual Torch Relay”, hundreds of young people joined NanjingLeLe in igniting virtual and live enthusiasm for the YOG. Finally, there was the “1,2,3 YOG” dance in which hundreds of Singaporean young people danced with NanjingLele to help spread the passion and energy of the Nanjing YOG.

The YOG incorporates customs and traditions from all over the world to give the world's youth a chance to learn about each other through sharing and cultural exchanges. Events like these in Singapore help attract thousands of new friends to participate and interact with NanjingLeLe and each other. The events create smiles, dancing and enthusiasm to help spread the passion of the Nanjing YOG to every corner of the world.
