MATTHEWS, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (NYSE: FDO) today announced that it has named Jeffrey Thomas Senior Vice President–Merchandise Operations. Replacing Scott Zucker, who left the Company at the end of May, Mr. Thomas will report to Jason Reiser, Executive Vice President - Chief Merchandising Officer.

Mr. Thomas joined Family Dollar in 2003 as a Director of Vendor Performance with responsibility for item data integrity and vendor relationships. Between 2005 and 2013, Mr. Thomas assumed greater roles with increased responsibilities, and in 2013, he was named Vice President – Merchant Services. Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The University of Tennessee.
