HealthTrust Expands Capabilities With Acquisition of Cardiac Data Solutions

Capabilities will add clinical data analytics, benchmarking and related consulting services to HealthTrust and SourceTrust offerings

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--()--HealthTrust, a Parallon affiliate, announces that it has acquired certain of the assets and operations of Cardiac Data Solutions (CDS). The acquisition enhances HealthTrust solutions that provide data analytics, clinical benchmarks, consultation services, evidence-based and best practice tools, implementation support and peer-reviewed research. HealthTrust will rebrand the services previously provided by CDS to reflect its more comprehensive offerings that will be available in cardiovascular, orthopedics and spine as part of the medical device custom sourcing and consulting services currently marketed under SourceTrust.

“Increasingly, providers are requesting help in the area of clinical data analysis and benchmarking as they address all dimensions of cost management,” says HealthTrust CEO Ed Jones. “CDS uses clinical and operational data to allow physicians and hospital leaders to make more informed decisions to improve clinical and financial outcomes. By comparing hospital and clinical data to national and regional benchmarks, service providers are able to obtain actionable data which can be used to improve the quality of care provided to patients and reduce costs and lengths of stay. HealthTrust is excited to now offer this enhanced capability as part of our suite of total cost management solutions,” Jones adds.

CDS Founder April Simon says, “Strategically, with our clinical analytics and HealthTrust’s purchase data, I am confident we will be able to build a robust database that answers many key questions of hospital operators. My team and I are excited about the new opportunities ahead of us as part of the HealthTrust team.”

Founded in 1999, Cardiac Data Solutions was initially focused on the cardiovascular market and expanded to the orthopedic and spine markets in 2008. Since its founding, CDS has worked with multiple hospitals and systems across the United States, engaging their leaders to improve clinical and financial outcomes. The programs provided by CDS are clinician driven, including physician advisors from leading healthcare organizations and professional societies. CDS has also contributed to the evidence base for improving patient outcomes through the analysis of large data sets with publication of multiple abstracts and manuscripts.
