LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced details for the 2014 Uforia Music Festival, formerly known as the H2O Music Festival. The festival, which sold out last year, will take place on Saturday, August 16 at Exposition Park in Los Angeles and will feature two stages, 15 artists and 9 hours of music.
“The Uforia Music Festival is a one of a kind event that celebrates Latin culture and our audiences’ diverse taste in music,” said Evan Harrison, executive vice president of Content & Entertainment, Univision Radio. “The festival creates a music experience that cuts across platforms allowing fans to experience the artists they love live at this venue, on air, and via digital which is at the core of our music strategy.”
La Arrolladora Banda El Limon, Camila and Kid Cudi will serve as headliners of the Uforia Music Festival and confirmed artists include J Balvin, Nelly, Becky G., Ludacris, Kid Ink and El Dasa.
With more than 40 years of musical trajectory and over 30 musical productions and countless radio hits in Mexico and the United States, La Arrolladora Banda El Limon have been entertaining fans of Mexican regional music long before they debuted their first commercial album in 1987. The over a dozen member ensemble specializes in cumbias, rancheras, ballads and corridos.
Popular band Camila will make an awaited comeback after three years away from the stage. Camila made its official debut in 2005 and since then the band has soared to the top of the charts in Mexico and beyond with two million copies sold, three Latin Grammy Awards, three Billboard Awards, Diamond and Platinum certifications, hundreds of shows in 18 countries in front of more than two million fans and more than seven and a half million followers on Facebook, nearly three million on Twitter and hundreds of thousand visits on YouTube.
Kid Cudi has sold over 5.2 million digital singles and has worked with artists such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Common, Mary J. Blige and David Guetta, among many others. Cudi’s debut single “Day ‘n’ Nite” reached the top five of the Billboard charts and his debut studio album “Man on the Moon: The End of Day” was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. In 2010, Cudi’s single “Erase Me” off his second album peaked at #22 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album itself peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200. 2013’s “Indicud,” Cudi’s third studio album, peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming his highest-charting album.
Rising Colombian emcee/singer J Balvin is one of the most promising new talents in urban pop music. With quick-witted, empathetic rhymes, paired with his good looks and undeniable charisma, this brazenly talented artist brings new life into urban pop music with one of the most critically celebrated urban albums of recent memory, “La Familia,” which includes his breakout single “6AM,” that shot up to #1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart, in a rarity for a new Latin music performer. Propelled by a quickly growing international fan base, J Balvin already boasts a Social Media following in excess of 10M combined and over 200M views on his official VEVO/YouTube channel.
Multi-platinum Grammy Award-winning rap superstar Nelly raises the bar every time he hits the stage. Now on his seventh full-length album, “M.O.” led by the irresistible, slick hip-hop anthem “Hey Porsche,” he’s flaunting contagious swagger and the same mic skills that made millions of fans believe in him when he first burst onto the scene with his 2000 album “Country Grammar” which spent seven weeks at #1 on the Billboard Top 200.
17-year-old singer, songwriter, rapper and CoverGirl Becky G’s new single, “Shower” is blowing up the charts around the country. Later this year Becky will be opening for Katy Perry on select dates on Perry’s “Prismatic” tour in the U.S. and Mexico. Becky, who is one of Cover Girl’s newest (and youngest faces), recently wrapped her first major tour with Austin Mahone, and just graced the cover of the April/May issue of Girls’ Life Magazine. Becky, who is signed to Kemosabe/RCA Records, also recently won the Radio Disney Music Award for Best New Artist.
Ludacris has sold over 19.5 million units in the United States, and approximately 7 million overseas. He is tied for having the most Billboard Hot 100 #1 songs as a rap artist. He also has 32 singles in the Top 10 over the span of his career. He has won three Grammy Awards and received 17 nominations. Ludacris’ eighth studio album, “Ludaversal,” is highly anticipated, and is sure to stick to the successful tradition he has established.
Los Angeles rapper, producer and performer Kid Ink cruises past all boundaries. With the release of his full-length debut, “My Own Lane,” he can seamlessly slip from an irresistible hook into an impeccable verse, effortlessly bobbing and weaving between the club and the streets. His 2012 independent album “Up & Away” smashed an iTunes record by debuting in the Top 5 of the Hip-Hop Albums chart prior to release and minus any traditional promotion. Cumulative single sales from the effort exceed over 500K, while it landed at #20 on the Billboard Top 200, moving over 20K copies first-week.
Regional Mexican artist and Latin GRAMMY nominee El Dasa will soon release his sophomore album “Alegre y Enamorado” (Happy and in Love) which includes 14 songs inspired by the life of the young singer and with collaborations from famous composers and new talents.
