Foreign Buyers Highly Praise Meticulously Planned Taiwan Int’l Boat Show

KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan--()--The 2014 Taiwan International Boat Show, co-organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Kaohsiung City Government, implemented by Taiwan External Trade Development Council and assisted by Taiwan Yacht Industry Association, attracted 2,000 foreign buyers and more than 70,000 visitors, and both participating manufacturers and foreign buyers highly praised the first and meticulously planned boat show in Taiwan.

Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) indicated the first professional yacht exhibition held in Taiwan( from May 8 to May 11) was concluded with impressive results in terms of the number of buyers and visitors, purchase quantity and the promotion of yacht culture. In addition to stimulating the growth of domestic yacht industry and its peripheral industries, TAITRA expected that the boat show will set a new example for the exhibitions to be held by Taiwan’s leisure industry after demonstrating the high standards of internationalization of Taiwan’s convention and exhibition industry.

Executive Vice President Walter M.S. Yeh of Taiwan External Trade Development Council noted that more than 1,000 executives of renowned luxury yacht manufacturers in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Japan and other countries were invited to visit the boat show. In addition to the leaders of various big enterprise groups from home and abroad, including The Far Eastern Group, Hon Hai/Foxconn Technology Group, ASUS, Farglory Group, and Yang Ming Marine Transport, invited by Chairman Wang Chih-kang of Taiwan External Trade Development Council, more than 1,500 business executives attended the exhibition.

During the boat show, the yachts exhibited by Swedish and German manufacturers provided buyers additional choices and visitors were able to appreciate superior yacht craftsmanship and attend forums and seminars to learn more about ocean and maritime leisure activities, said Yeh. Most foreign buyers came from mainland China, Japan, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada, Germany, the Philippines, and South Korea, and among heavyweight buyers were the world’s largest yacht manufacturer Brunswick, renowned U.S. speedboat manufacturer Malibu, Spanish manufacturer Rodman Polyships, Isara Yachts of the United Kingdom, and Japan’s Suzuki, Yamaha and Toyota.

Domestic manufacturers received orders for 32 yachts and sailboats during the 4-day exhibition. Kha Shing Enterprises Co. said the number of visitors to the boat show exceeded its expectation and foreign buyers negotiated with it for the purchase of three yachts during the exhibition.
