OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation and the global technology standard for managing the movement of cargo through terminals, today celebrated the grand opening of the new DP World Brisbane terminal and the go-live of the Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS) to support its semi-automated operations. Implementation of N4 at DP World Brisbane, the fourth member of the DP World Australia family of terminals to go live on Navis N4 over the last three years, completes the standardization and optimization of the TOS software across all DP World Australia sites.
DP World Brisbane is one of Australia’s most sophisticated terminals. Incorporating semi-automated operations managed by the Navis N4 TOS, along with Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC), provided by Kalmar, and manned straddle carriers, the Brisbane terminal has a TEU capacity of 900,000, representing the capability to handle 90 percent of the TEU handled by the entire Port of Brisbane annually. With N4 in place, DP World Brisbane’s safety, productivity, efficiency and reliability will see improvements, contributing to its status as a world-class semi-automated facility.
“We extend our sincerest thanks to the Navis team for its partnership and support during this groundbreaking and high-stakes project,” said Mark Hulme, Chief Operations Officer, DP World Australia. “The N4 TOS provides us with the tools we need to manage our semi-automated facility, and as part of that, optimize operations, create new efficiencies, increase safety and improve the reliability of our services, increasing customer satisfaction overall.”
The N4 go-live at DP World Brisbane also represents the final N4 TOS implementation across all of DP World Australia’s sites, including Sydney, Fremantle and Melbourne. TOS standardization at all four terminals provides DP World Australia with critical support for advanced technologies used in gate and rail operations, as well as improved functionality and efficiency for vessel and yard planning.
“The grand opening and launch of N4 at the Brisbane terminal marks DP World Australia’s continued commitment to raising the bar on delivering cutting-edge services that customers demand in this competitive environment,” said Ian Sehgal, General Manager, Asia Pacific for Navis. “We are proud to partner with DP World Australia on this landmark project and will work closely together to provide regular maintenance, knowledge sharing and support to continuously optimize its terminal operations.”
N4 is Navis’ latest generation TOS, allowing customers the flexibility and scalability needed to run their operations - from a single terminal to multiple terminals spanning numerous geographic locations managed from one central location.
