  • For more than a decade, the VA has used Bosch’s Health Buddy System to enhance veterans’ health care
  • The Health Buddy System collects data on symptoms and provides educational content related to the patients’ condition
  • Demonstrable value to patients and their care coordinators

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--Robert Bosch Healthcare Systems, Inc. (Bosch Healthcare), the market leader in evidence-based telehealth solutions, today announced that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has exercised its third option to extend the term of the contract for Home Telehealth Devices and Services with Bosch Healthcare. The term of this option year began May 15, 2014, and extends the contract to May 14, 2015.

For more than a decade, VA facilities across the country have been using Bosch Healthcare’s Health Buddy System to monitor patients remotely and enhance patient care for veterans through its Care Coordination Home Telehealth (CCHT) program.

The Health Buddy System guides the patient through an interactive series of questions that collects data on symptoms and vital signs, medication compliance and condition-specific knowledge. It also provides educational content about the patient’s condition and supports positive health behavior changes.

The care manager is able to review results in a risk-stratified manner in order to manage his/her work efficiently. This model of technology-enabled care management has proven successful in improving care for hundreds of thousands of veterans with chronic medical and mental health conditions.

Micha Kirchhoff, president of Bosch Healthcare said, “Since 2002, Bosch Healthcare has been a leading provider of telehealth solutions to the VA’s CCHT program. A large amount of the published evidence proving the impact of telehealth on improving outcomes and lowering costs was reported by VA researchers using our Health Buddy system. We are proud and honored to be part of a program that improves the lives of our veterans, and we look forward to continuing our role in this innovative and highly effective program.”
