CHADDS FORD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Decision Simulation LLC, the leading provider of cloud and mobile simulation platforms, announced today that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has continued its enterprise license with Decision Simulation to support the VA’s Simulation, Learning, Education and Research Network (SimLEARN).
The relationship between the VA and Decision Simulation began in 2011 when the VA launched a pilot program using the DecisionSim platform to advance its efforts with SimLEARN, a national program furthering the advancement of simulation training and education. Based on the success of the pilot, in 2012, the VA signed a five-year, enterprise-wide contract with Decision Simulation to extend access to all VA employees. The VA has now exercised the first two option years of the 2012 contract. The VA’s investment in DecisionSim will exceed $10 million if all of the options are exercised.
“DecisionSim helps the VA increase the consistency and quality of care across all facilities through improved education and training delivered in an engaging, cost-effective and measurable approach,” said James B. McGee, MD, Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at Decision Simulation, “This continuation of the enterprise license demonstrates the value of DecisionSim to help improve and assess decision-making.”
As a valuable resource to VA healthcare educators and providers, SimLEARN provides training through operational strategies and simulation technology in order to meet specific training goals. Leveraging adult learning and gaming concepts, DecisionSim helps the VA accelerate each learner’s level of expertise by improving knowledge, retention, and the application of knowledge through simulations which replicate the challenges that VA providers face daily.
The VA is a leader in the use of simulation to support clinical improvement. DecisionSim is used for a wide range of learners such as primary care, specialty care, nursing and non-clinical staff. Topics include women’s health, patient safety and palliative care to name a few. The VA has blended DecisionSim with other simulation modalities and is applying DecisionSim in team training and communication skills training.
“We are honored to be a valued partner in the VA’s effort to improve patient care. By utilizing DecisionSim, VA healthcare professionals and staff will be better equipped to meet the needs of all Veterans and continually improve patient outcomes,” said Bob Yayac, President of Decision Simulation.
Decision Simulation teamed with Catapult Technology, Ltd., an award-winning, customer-oriented, provider of full-service management consulting and information technology (IT) solutions. Catapult is the prime contractor for this partnership and brings to this project its program management expertise, as well as proven past performance with the VA.
