OnSIP Announces Platform as a Service Offering for WebRTC Developers and Launches Instant Video CRM Solution for Businesses

The OnSIP Network enables developers to deploy scalable WebRTC apps and delivers “Amazon Mayday” like capability to all businesses

NEW YORK--()--Business communications provider OnSIP today announced its new offering, The OnSIP Network, a signaling Platform as a Service (PaaS) for developers to quickly and easily build Web Real-Time Communications (WebRTC) applications in scale. The OnSIP Network locates and negotiates communications between WebRTC application peers, solving a similar problem that the Public Switched Telephone Network once did for telephones. Companies can now build WebRTC applications without having to develop and manage their own signaling platform, leading to faster times to market and ongoing infrastructure cost savings. Using a simple, open sourced API SIP.js, developers can easily access The OnSIP Network in their applications.

OnSIP also today released InstaCall, an affordable, WebRTC-based solution that empowers any company to add “Amazon Mayday” like functionality to their website or web application in under five minutes. OnSIP business customers can enable instant, video-capable and secure calls directly from their website with the addition of an InstaCall button, resulting in seamless and impactful customer service—no downloads, plugins, or dialing required. Through the solution, customers can connect with businesses in real time with just one click. InstaCalls can be received by sales and support agents with the phone of their choice or OnSIP’s InstaPhone, a video-enabled, browser phone application that allows agents to work from anywhere and receive contextual information about the website visitor along with the call. OnSIP InstaCall is also integrated with Google Analytics for improved call tracking and marketing intelligence.

“Having the InstaCall button on our website makes it easy for customers to contact us via their preferred method, whether it be voice or email, all through one click on the support page,” said Kurt Wilson, OnSIP customer and Project Manager at RFMS, Inc., the leader in business management software for the floor covering industry. “We’ve seen a huge uptick in customer satisfaction since adding InstaCall and look forward to implementing it with our sales and business operations teams in the future so prospective and current customers can get a full range of support right from their browsers.”

WebRTC, an open sourced project originally started by Google, allows for plugin-free, peer to peer audio, video, and data transfer in the browser. As more businesses unlock the potential of WebRTC, the need for a reliable and scalable signaling PaaS provider reaches critical mass. “While WebRTC defines a set of protocols that handle flow of real-time communications between browser peers, it does not define a signaling protocol to help browser peers locate others and initiate communications,” said John Riordan, OnSIP CTO. “Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a time-tested open standard, but building a network to route signaling over the Internet still requires significant investment in infrastructure and expertise. Our service helps solve that issue by handling the heavy lifting of a signaling network and offering SIP.js, an open source JavaScript SIP stack, to access it. Leveraging these, the developer community and businesses building with WebRTC will benefit from faster and more affordable product development and maintenance.”

The OnSIP Network offering is now available and free of charge. Later in 2014, the company plans to roll out a pay-as-you-go pricing model for voice and video calling, user registrations, and messages on The OnSIP Network. However, a freemium offering will remain available to developers, and SIP.js will remain a fully supported, open source project.

OnSIP has been awarded a patent entitled “System and Method for Geographic SIP Scaling,” U.S. Patent Number 8,650,243, issued on February 11, 2014. For more information regarding The OnSIP Network, click here. For more information about the InstaCall Solution, click here.
