Science Center and Drexel University Announce New Collaborative Workspace is Now Accepting Applications

PHILADELPHIA--()--Philadelphia’s newest shared workspace, the Innovation Center @3401, is accepting applications from tech startups and individuals who need office space and can benefit from a collaborative atmosphere.

Entrepreneurs can participate in the Innovation Center @3401 (ic@3401) through an open membership that offers access to flexible workstations or dedicated office space. Fees include rent, utilities, internet services and amenities such as shared office equipment, conference rooms and kitchen facilities.

Residents in ic@3401’s co-working program will also have access to the University City Science Center’s Quorum programming and activities at Drexel’s ExCITe Center.

Located at 3401 Market Street, ic@3401 is a collaboration between the Science Center and Drexel University. This new program supports innovation, collaboration and business creation. The Innovation Center @3401 builds upon Drexel’s philosophy of cooperative education and cross-disciplinary research, and the Science Center's long and impactful tradition of incubating startups and convening communities around innovation and entrepreneurship.

Residents will join a community bridging the creative minds of academia and industry and tap into the startup and knowledge resources of Drexel University and the Science Center. The Innovation Center @3401 is also home to DreamIt Ventures, a leading technology accelerator for entrepreneurs. Space will also be available for established tech companies and venture funds.

“The Innovation Center @3401 is the latest example of our commitment to collaborative models that enhance Greater Philadelphia’s thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem,” says Science Center President & CEO Stephen S. Tang, Ph.D., MBA. “By giving entrepreneurs access to the brain trust in University City, including Drexel and the Science Center, as well as space and support, we’re piloting a new model for collaborative workspaces. With the involvement of DreamIt Ventures, we’ve got the ingredients for a lively community of entrepreneurs.”

“The Innovation Center is a place for creative and entrepreneurial minds to come together,” said Drexel President John A. Fry. “The center is an outstanding expression of Drexel’s commitment to helping Greater Philadelphia translate its creative capital into regional economic growth, and a great foundation of the Innovation Neighborhood we’re developing in University City.”

The Innovation Center @3401 is scheduled to open in late spring. More information is available at www.sciencecenter.org/programs/ic3401. Prospective residents should contact Kristin Hart at khart@sciencecenter.org.
