ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Securian Financial Group is one of 100 organizations named to InformationWeek’s annual list of top technology innovators.
For 25 years, InformationWeek identified and honored the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its InformationWeek 500 rankings and Securian appeared on that list 15 times. This year, InformationWeek shortened the list to an “Elite 100” and Securian was named again.
Middle market project
In addition to completing a detailed
application, each company vying for a place on the list also submitted
an essay describing an innovative IT project completed within the past
year.
Securian’s chief information officer, Senior Vice President Jean Delaney Nelson, submitted an essay about SecurianAccess, an online enrollment site that gives Securian access to the “middle market,” the large segment of middle income Americans who agree they need insurance but haven’t purchased it. 1
“We wanted to meet these potential new customers where they are – online,” said Delaney Nelson. “We knew it would have to compare to their other online shopping experiences. For us that meant creating a transparent purchasing process for simple products with minimal underwriting.”
Delaney Nelson says results quickly materialized in the form of a partnership with a large affinity group that markets Securian products on the SecurianAccess platform under the group’s own brand.
“A team of IT professionals from across the company built one online enrollment website for use by many of our business units to reach the middle market with a variety of products,” said Delaney Nelson.
