NEEDHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Object Management Group® (OMG®) today announced that it has been named to manage the day-to-day operations of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) by the IIC Founding members. The IIC is an open membership, not-for-profit group that will take the lead in establishing interoperability across industrial environments for a more connected world.
Founded by AT&T, Cisco, General Electric, Intel and IBM, the Industrial Internet Consortium will develop critical relationships with leaders in technology, manufacturing, academia and the government on working committees.

OMG members MITRE, PrismTech, Real-Time Innovations, and Vanderbilt University have already became members of the new consortium, joining a growing list of industry innovators who will be shaping the enabling technologies of the Industrial Internet. While the IIC is not a standards organization, it does coordinate the development of common architectures and platforms in order to reduce duplication of standardization efforts.
