PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Building on last year’s inaugural event, NAPE East will be held again this year in Pittsburgh, transforming the David L. Lawrence Convention Center into the regional marketplace to buy, sell and trade oil and gas prospects and producing properties.
Set for April 9-11, NAPE East brings together in one location holders of oil and natural gas prospects, as well as oil- and gas-producing properties, with organizations providing capital, services and technologies to create a setting where participants can establish strategic alliances for doing business and can buy, sell or trade oil and gas assets. NAPE is the world’s largest exploration and production (E&P) gathering of its kind and will host the Pittsburgh event.
Last year, more than 2,100 people attended NAPE East. The three-day event had an economic impact of approximately $1.8 million on the region.
Created by the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) as the North American Prospect Expo, NAPE was first held in 1993. In 1995, the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) was added as a partner, and in 2004, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) also joined as partners.
“Last year’s first-ever NAPE East was a great success, and Pittsburgh was an excellent choice for the expo,” said Marty Schardt, executive vice president of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and general partner of NAPE. “The region was very welcoming and hospitable, and the event ran smoothly. The feedback I received from exhibitors and attendees was fantastic. That is why we’re back for a second year.
“Although NAPE has been held in Houston since it was created in 1993, we created NAPE East and came to Pittsburgh because it is difficult for companies in many parts of the country to get to Houston. Now is an especially good time to expand given the thriving energy industry in the northeast.”
In addition to the newly created NAPE East, NAPE hosts three other expos a year: NAPE Expo, its largest annual event held in Houston, NAPE Rockies (held in Denver) and NAPE South (held in Houston). The most recent NAPE Expo, held in February 2014 in Houston, hosted approximately 950 exhibitors and more than 16,000 attendees.
“NAPE East will be the place to get deals done in the northeast and will provide attendees with access to hundreds of opportunities to buy, sell and trade oil and gas prospects as well as producing properties,” Schardt added.
In addition to serving the oil and gas industry in the region, NAPE will serve the broader Pittsburgh region business community, according to Schardt. NAPE East is expected to attract as many as 3,000 attendees from a six-state region, as well as Canada. NAPE also will host a special Business Conference for energy company executives.
