PROVO, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SnapPower (www.snappower.com) debuted its SnapRays Guidelight on the online crowd funding site, Kickstarter.com, two days ago. Since that time, SnapPower has achieved phenomenal results: 2,762 backers; 1,155% funded; and currently in 1st position on Kickstarter’s “Popular” page – out of 134,679 listed projects.
SnapPower’s patented technology which empowers electrical cover plates is a revolutionary, future-forward solution to solving a host of household issues, starting with the debut product, SnapRays Guidelight.
The Guidelight is a plug-and-play replacement for the traditional plug-in and hardwired night lights found on the market today. Installing in seconds with no wires or batteries, the SnapRays Guidelight is designed to look like and replace the standard electrical outlet cover plate. Each SnapRays Guidelight is equipped with light emitting diodes (LEDs) to provide illumination in the dark while keeping both electrical outlets available for use at all times. For energy efficiency, the Guidelight includes a light sensor that automatically turns the LEDs on in the dark and off in the light. In addition to all of this, the SnapRays Guidelight is estimated to use less than 10 cents of energy per year.
“I invented the SnapRays Guidelight because people want the safety of being able to see at night while still keeping their homes aesthetically attractive and energy efficient,” said Jeremy Smith, SnapPower CTO. “As an electrician, I’ve installed countless guide lights (built-in night lights) in homes, but it required running numerous wires through walls, installing additional electrical boxes and manually wiring the lights. The alternative has been a conventional plug-in night light, but most people don’t like them. They are often bulky, monopolize the electrical outlets, break easily and can be hazardous.”
The SnapRays Guidelight is designed to be installed over the standard electrical outlet with the patented "Power Extractors" sliding around the electrical outlet receptacle and making contact with the sides of the outlet to draw its power. This proprietary technology is what enables the device to extract power from the receptacle without having to hardwire, plug into or occupy an outlet.
“Since I was a kid, I’ve loved tinkering with all things electric,” Smith says. “SnapRays is a natural extension of that childhood curiosity, mixed with a practical belief that there just had to be a better solution.”
