A.M. BestTV: View from DC; Interest in Insurance Careers Rising

OLDWICK, N.J.--()--In this episode of A.M. BestTV, educators at the St. John's School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science discuss how student interest in an insurance-related career has grown at the same time that industry demand is also increasing. Mark Browne, the chair of the program, part of the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John's University, said that as the job market has tightened for some of the more popular undergraduate programs, a career in insurance, risk management or actuarial science has become more desirable. Jody Queen, director of the Ellen Thrower Center for Apprenticeship & Career Services, talks about how the school's internship program is preparing these students for post-graduation careers, through relationships the school has formed with the insurance industry. The pair also talk about the history of the school and how it has evolved, the insurance fraternity, Gamma Iota Sigma, and the program's success in placing students in insurance-related jobs.
