HANWHA SOLARONE EXHIBITS THREE HSL SERIES MODULES AT PV EXPO 2014 IN JAPAN

Global top-10 PV Manufacturer Showcases Newest Generation Modules in Key Market

Hanwha SolarOne Co. Ltd. (the “Company,” or “Hanwha SolarOne”) (Nasdaq: HSOL), a top-10 global photovoltaic manufacturer of high-quality, cost-competitive solar modules, today announced that it will display three modules from its latest generation HSL Series modules at the PV Expo 2014 held in Tokyo, Japan: the HSL 60 Poly Module, HSL 72 Poly Anti-salt Module and new HSL 60 Poly Hot Environment Module.

Since their launch last year, the HSL 60 Poly Module and HSL 72 Poly Anti-salt Module have been meeting customer needs around the world with enhanced reliability and performance. The HSL 60 Poly Module offers anti-reflective coating for high sunlight absorption and predictable output with a positive power sorting of 0 to +5W. Designed for seaside locations, the HSL 72 Poly Anti-salt Module features a special aluminum frame and non-coating glass, both of which reduce the risk of salt corrosion, and it has passed extreme environmental testing at double the salt mist concentration and duration of the IEC 61701.

This year, Hanwha SolarOne is under development for enhancing its HSL Series product offerings with the new HSL 60 Poly Hot Environment Module, ideal for high-temperature areas. With strong anti-thermal protection, the HSL 60 Poly Hot Environment Module offers optimized performance in high temperatures and has proven reliable in thermal cycling tests. The module also features IEC 60068-2-68 validated anti-dust and sand abrasion capabilities as well as EVA that can withstand UV aging. Like all HSL Series modules, the HSL 60 Poly Hot Environment Module has passed the stringent TUV Rheinland PID test and is backed by a 25-year linear performance warranty and a 12-year product warranty.

“Hanwha SolarOne continuously explores new ways to create value for our customers around the globe through our pioneering technologies and comprehensive module offerings,” said Hanwha SolarOne President Min Su Kim. “We are particularly proud to showcase these modules during the PV Expo 2014 held in Tokyo because this year marks Hanwha Group’s 30th anniversary in Japan. Like our parent company, Hanwha SolarOne also has started its operations in Japan many years ago, and we will continue to serve this important market with our high-quality products and top-class services.”

As a leading module supplier in Japan’s solar market, Hanwha SolarOne is uniquely positioned to meet customers’ increasing demand for clean, safe energy. In 2013 alone, Hanwha SolarOne’s shipments to Japan are expected to approximately reach 300MW. In 2014, the company plans to maintain its strong performance in Japan and reach the similar Japan shipments achieved in 2013. Recognizing this, Hanwha SolarOne is committed to growing with Japan to create a brighter future in solar.

Hanwha SolarOne invites PV Expo 2014 participants to visit the company’s booth, cohosted with sister company Hanwha Q CELLS, at East Hall 5, Booth No. E41-48, to learn more about its product portfolio and business in Japan.
