BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fidelity Investments® today announced the appointment of Charles Morrison as president of the company’s Asset Management organization.
In his new role, Morrison, 53, will oversee Fidelity’s investment divisions that collectively manage $1.9 trillion in retail and institutional assets on behalf of individual investors, intermediaries, and institutions worldwide. He will report to Abigail P. Johnson, president of Fidelity Financial Services.
Morrison most recently served as president of the company’s more than $750 billion Fixed Income division. He succeeds Ronald P. O’Hanley, who recently announced his plans to leave the firm.
“We’re fortunate to have a leadership team with broad and deep investment management expertise,” said Abby Johnson. “Charlie’s diverse experience during his 27 years at Fidelity positions him well to advance our asset management business by continuing to deliver strong, consistent performance across all asset classes, sharpening our global investment focus, and offering innovative products that help deliver better outcomes for our clients.”
Morrison joined Fidelity as a corporate bond analyst in 1987, and, over the next several years, assumed roles with increasing responsibility including managing portfolios for Fidelity Management Trust Company. From 1995 to 1997, Morrison managed Fidelity Short-Term Bond Fund, Spartan Short-Term Bond Fund and Fidelity Advisor Short Fixed Income Fund. He then led management of the fixed income assets across a breadth of Fidelity Asset Manager, Fidelity Advisor Asset Allocation and Fidelity Global Asset Allocation portfolios, followed by serving as head of Fidelity’s Bond and Money Market divisions. He was named president of the Fixed Income division in 2011.
Morrison holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
