Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square Reports 180 Percent Year-over-Year Volume Increase in Residential Real Estate Sales for 2013

San Francisco Historic Property Moves Into 2014 with Strong Momentum as More Buyers Invest In Luxury Fractional Second Home Offerings

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square, the 53-unit, five-star private residence club built in one of the City’s most iconic landmarks overlooking the San Francisco Bay, today reported 2013 residential real estate sales increased 180 percent in volume for a nearly three-fold velocity increase from the previous year.

Capitalizing on the upswing of San Francisco’s luxury real estate market, the Fairmont-branded private residence club has shown a remarkable recent pace in sales, closing 22 deeded fractions and two whole ownership units for a total of 42 equivalent fractions sold last year.

“Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square has been the fastest selling fractional offering in the country since opening in 2008,” said Todd Chapman, Chief Executive Officer of JMA Ventures, LLC, which owns and operates the remaining real estate inventory at Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square. “We are in an ideal position to continue attracting buyers who understand fractional ownership is an economical lifestyle investment and that value doesn’t have to come at the expense of location, amenities or luxury.”

While a large percentage of buyers originate from Bay Area suburbs, an increase in new buyer interest also came from Canada, Mexico and Asia. Offering one, two and three bedroom homes available for sale at 1/10th deeded fractional ownership, Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square provides vacation home buyers with a “home away from home” featuring all the benefits of full-home ownership but without many of the burdens associated with a traditional full-purchase second home.

Built into the historic former chocolate factory that opened in 1893, Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square features sweeping views of the San Francisco waterfront; luxurious amenities and the world-class service of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts; and convenient access to an array of nearby entertainment, cultural, retail and dining options. Adding to the activities surrounding the private residence club’s waterfront location is the 50th anniversary of Ghirardelli Square. The residences are designed to showcase the historic building’s heritage including exposed red brick walls and timber-beam supports juxtaposed with luxurious, modern-day touch points.

For a limited time, new buyers of two- or three-bedroom fractions will be treated to the ultimate wine country getaway. The trip—created exclusively for new buyers—includes a four-day stay at The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, VIP winery access with transport, daily access for two to the famed Willow Stream Spa, $500 trip credit and a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience.
