DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gina S. Warren, Associate Professor of Law at Texas A&M University School of Law, will be the guest speaker at the luncheon meeting of the Women’s Energy Network (WEN) – North Texas Chapter on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Fort Worth Petroleum Club, 777 Main Street #4000. Dr. Anastasia Shcherbakova, Clinical Assistant Professor of Finance and Managerial Economics at the Naveen Jindal School of Management at The University of Texas at Dallas, will be the guest speaker at the luncheon meeting of WEN on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Dallas Petroleum Club, 2200 Ross Avenue. Registration for both events will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the luncheon from noon-1:00 p.m.
Warren will present a discussion on “The New Look of Sustainable Energy.” Her presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
Warren’s academic focus is on energy and natural resources law, with an emphasis on development of sustainable energy. Prior to joining Texas A&M University School of Law, Warren taught Energy Law as a visiting professor at Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and taught a summer seminar on U.S. energy law at the University of Cologne in Cologne, Germany. While in Germany, Warren gave presentations on climate change regulations in the U.S. to the German/American Lawyer Association in Berlin, including one presentation at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin.

Before entering academia, Warren worked as a litigator at the international law firm of Perkins Coie, LLP in Seattle, Washington. Her practice there focused on energy and utility law. Warren received a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Arizona followed by a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington.
Dr. Anastasia Shcherbakova will discuss “The Economics of Energy” at the Dallas luncheon. A question-and-answer session will follow her presentation.
Dr. Shcherbakova is an applied economist, specializing in energy economics, market regulations, and energy and financial risk. She is currently leading the development of a new graduate program in Energy Management at The University of Texas at Dallas and teaching courses in energy economics and finance. Her recent academic research projects include studying the effect of increased renewable integration on system costs in South Korea’s electricity markets, detecting domestic policy biases in investor perceptions of energy assets, assessing the role of lobbying donations in safety and health outcomes of U.S. coal mines, and evaluating shipping inefficiencies in the global liquefied natural gas industry.

Dr. Shcherbakova holds a PhD from the University of Chicago. Prior to her appointment at The University of Texas at Dallas, she was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at Pennsylvania State University, where she conducted energy-related economic research and taught graduate and undergraduate courses in energy economics and energy finance.
