Argentina Issues New Guidelines Concerning “Related Parties Register”
New measures issued by the Argentine Federal Tax Authority (AFIP)
entered into force on 3 January 2014. The new measures intend to create
a “Register of Related Parties” and collect information from companies

parties.

Argentina Includes New Business Activities in Mandatory E-invoicing System
The Argentine Federal Tax Authority (AFIP) has established changes to
existing rules on mandatory e-invoicing effective 18 December 2013. This
new measure moves many local companies to the mandatory electronic
invoicing process. The new electronic invoicing system has been made
mandatory for the large taxpayers and also for the companies that carry
out activities such as Research & Development (R&D), professional,
consultancy and technical services and so on.

Brazil Raises Withholding Tax Thresholds for Employee Profit-Sharing Plans
The employee profit-sharing plan (participação nos lucros ou resultados,
PLR) related tax withholding thresholds in Brazil have recently been
modified, applicable 1 January, 2014. Companies in Brazil making PLR
payouts to employees must ensure that tax is withheld from such payments
to employees as per the above withholding tax table to avoid penal
consequences.

Brazil Launches Program to Verify Employees Details
The Brazilian government has launched the preliminary phase of the
electronic registration program under which business entities are asked
to submit social identification number and birth date of all employees.

Dubai Mandates Health Insurance for All National and Foreign Employees
Dubai’s new health insurance law mandates that employers provide health
insurance to both Foreign and United Arab Emirates (UAE) national
employees working in Dubai. The objective of the law is to provide
health coverage for every citizen, foreign resident and visitor. The
proposed Universal health care coverage is planned to expand in phases,
starting this year through mid-2016.
