TULSA, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SageNet, a technology solutions provider specializing in mission-critical business solutions and managed services, has announced three executive management changes as part of its recent acquisition of Washington, D.C.-based Spacenet Inc., a leading provider of managed network services serving business, government agencies, energy companies and public utilities.
Daryl Woodard, SageNet CEO, has been named CEO of both SageNet and Spacenet. Tech-entrepreneur and industry veteran in the managed services and digital signage sectors, he has grown SageNet into one of the nation’s premier providers of managed network services for multi-site retailers. Before founding SageNet in 1998, Woodard was the CEO/owner of Stonebridge Technologies, and was the owner and president of multiple MicroAge franchise locations throughout the Southwest.
As Spacenet CEO, Woodard succeeds Spacenet’s outgoing CEO, Glenn Katz. Katz will serve in an advisory role during the transition phase. A 20+ year communications industry veteran, Katz became Spacenet’s CEO in 2012, after serving as its President and COO since 2005. Katz served as the driving force behind Spacenet’s transformation from a satellite services provider into a truly technology-neutral, end-to-end managed network services provider.
In addition, Brad Wise, Senior VP and general manager of Spacenet Enterprise Services, has been appointed President of Spacenet and will lead the two companies’ integration efforts. Wise was previously CEO of network services firm CICAT Networks, which was acquired by Spacenet in 2011. Prior to joining CICAT, Wise spent more than eight years at UUNET, the world’s leading Internet Service Provider, where he held numerous positions that included Vice President of Channel Sales and Development. Upon completion of the integration efforts, Wise will serve as President of the combined entity.
“I’m excited about this next phase in Spacenet’s evolution,” said Wise. “Over the past three years, Glenn and I – and our entire Spacenet team – have worked diligently to transform our company into a world-class, customer-focused managed services provider. During this process we have developed a unique organization: one that is technology-neutral, and that possesses a deep and broad expertise in all communications technologies – terrestrial, wireless or satellite. Joining forces with SageNet marks both the crowning achievement in the endeavor and an exciting new level in managed network services.”
According to Woodard, the combined SageNet/Spacenet organization will be uniquely positioned to assist customers in addressing the wide range of technology issues vital to network speed, reliability and security. These technologies and services include fully managed network solutions and infrastructure, broadband and satellite connectivity, digital signage, premise security, structured network cabling, and the increased need for unified communications.
“From cloud-based services to the proliferation of mobile devices to unified communications, high-speed connectivity now permeates nearly every aspect of our professional and personal lives,” he said. “And the need to ensure that businesses and government agencies have fast access that they can rely on and trust is unprecedented.
“By combining our two companies, SageNet and Spacenet, I believe we will be bringing the market a much-needed solution set that has been missing until now: a company that not only has the broad experience and resources to tackle the challenges of the new network-centric economy, but also possesses the energy, agility and entrepreneurial spirit to keep pace with a rapidly changing environment.”
Outgoing CEO Katz agreed. “This is a fascinating time in our industry,” he said. “This merger represents a strategic progression in SageNet/Spacenet becoming the premier North American service provider. I have every confidence that the new management team will provide the vision and leadership needed to guide the organization toward an even greater future.”
SageNet completed its acquisition of Spacenet on December 2, 2013. The two companies will continue to operate under their respective brand names until the companies are fully integrated in mid- to late-2014.
