BERLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As a result of strong consumer interest in the Panono throwable panoramic ball camera, the team working on its final development was able to procure camera modules with better optics and higher resolution that boost the camera from 72 to 108 megapixels and make the Panono the first consumer camera to exceed 100 megapixels. The Panono is a grapefruit-sized, ball-shaped camera with 36 camera modules embedded all around it that fire simultaneously when thrown into the air to capture everything in every direction in 360° X 360° fully spherical panoramic images.
The upgraded optics and higher resolution mean that consumers will be able to zoom in to see even greater detail when they view their Panono panoramic images on their computer or mobile devices. Viewing panoramas on a mobile device with the free Panono App is a fully immersive experience in which the viewer seemingly moves through images just by tilting their device up or down, left or right, as if inside the image. In a web browser, Panono images can be viewed much like Google Street View. In both viewing experiences and with the upgraded optics, details such as the writing on signs, facial expressions, or small items on the ground will be very sharp.
“We’re breaking new ground with the Panono camera and are grateful to the more than 1,000 people who already ordered the camera through our Indiegogo campaign. It’s thanks to their enthusiasm that we’re already able to upgrade our optics and break the 100-megapixel barrier in consumer cameras,” said Jonas Pfeil, creator of the Panono. “There’s still time for others to jump in on the opportunity to be among the first to own the first-ever 108 megapixel consumer camera.”
The Panono is available to purchase at the discounted price of $499 USD for 12 more days through international crowd-funding site Indiegogo.com at (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/panono-panoramic-ball-camera). For last-minute holiday shoppers, there is a Holiday Mega Deal for $535 USD that includes a protective pouch, a handheld stick, tripod adaptor, gift-wrapping and has a print-at-home gift certificate.
