LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--EVOQ Properties, Inc. (Pink Sheets:EVOQ), one of the largest property owners in Downtown Los Angeles, today announced that popular online retailer GoJane will relocate its corporate headquarters to the fashion and creative hub at Alameda Square in Downtown Los Angeles in March 2014.
Owned by Aeropostale, GoJane is a top online site for young women’s fashion offering the hottest trends in women’s shoes, formal dresses and teen clothing at a fraction of the normal retail price. Currently based in Ontario, Calif., the company signed a seven-year lease for office space that will cover approximately 10,400 square feet on the first floor of Building 1 at Alameda Square (located at 777 Alameda). The space will house 40 employees in functions such as merchandising, marketing and creative.
“After a long and thorough search, we are very excited about moving to Alameda Square,” said Tony Pang, founder of GoJane. “Our new office space is the perfect blend of workplace aesthetic and functionality. Additionally, it puts us at the intersection of the Fashion and Art Districts of Downtown L.A., where we will be in a growing community of creative companies.”
“Our multi-million dollar modernization and renovation of the campus are attracting an array of fashion, tech and other creative industries that are seeking the one-of-a-kind work space that Alameda Square offers,” said Martin Caverly, CEO of EVOQ Properties. “The buildings offer historic charm, an abundance of natural light with floor-to-ceiling windows and an open floor plan.”
In the past year, Alameda Square has become home to Splendid and Ella Moss’ corporate headquarters; photo studios for HauteLook, a division of Nordstrom; and fashion startup Groceries Apparel. American Apparel also been based at the Square for years.
Owned by EVOQ, Alameda Square is located near the popular Arts and Fashion Districts in Downtown Los Angeles, which has experienced a renaissance in the last 15 years and become a destination for dining, sports and entertainment, arts and culture.
Alameda Square has a historic role as a key commercial hub in Downtown L.A. Originally constructed by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1923, the property served as a major intermodal produce market and distribution center that connected Downtown to its surrounding regions. EVOQ has redesigned the campus to include the addition of a 6,000 square-foot roof deck, upgraded electrical service, extensive landscaping and space for food trucks. It also carefully preserved the square’s historic look by retaining the exposed windows, cement flooring and interior columns.
John Zanetos of CBRE represented GoJane in the transaction.
