SANTIAGO, Chile--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Parque Arauco (SSE:PARAUCO), a leading Latin American shopping mall developer and operator with a presence in Chile, Peru, and Colombia, has inaugurated MegaPlaza Barranca. This is the first shopping center in the city of Barranca, which is located 175 km north of Lima. The shopping center is a joint venture between Parque Arauco and Inmuebles Panamericana, with each company owning 50% of the asset.
MegaPlaza Barranca is Parque Arauco´s 10th shopping center in Peru. The mall adds 9,500 m2 of retail space to the company´s portfolio, bringing the total GLA to 668,100 m2. Parque Arauco, with headquarters in Santiago, Chile, has been focusing on regional expansion in 2013 and will continue to do so in the coming years.
MegaPlaza Barranca includes the supermarket Plaza Vea, the department store Oechsle and Movie Time cinemas as its anchor stores. In addition, it offers a wide range of products and services from clothing and shoes to banks, restaurants, and pharmacies. The shopping center includes both national and international brands, many of which were not previously available in Barranca. This is the sixth shopping center Parque Arauco has added to its portfolio this year, the fourth in Peru.
