The partnership combines EdgeCast’s global content delivery network (CDN) infrastructure with Fireblade’s robust security engine. For example, a typical webpage on Acuista.com is viewed 100 times per day, but during a recent DDoS attack the number soared more than 100 times higher to exceed 10,000 per day. One of these DDoS attacks lasted more than 12 hours. Attacks such as these can be crippling for online businesses, because they overwhelm a website’s infrastructure and cause it to slow down or crash. Fireblade technology, leveraging the EdgeCast network, was able to block the attacks and ensure that the site was online and available for Acuista’s customers.
