MIAMI--()--Neoris, a global business and IT consulting company, celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week by joining forces with Junior Achievement to host the third edition of the job shadowing and mentoring program NEOfrontiers Day in five cities around the globe. Part of Neoris’ Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the “JA Job Shadow” Day seeks to expose students to STEM careers and motivate them to explore their own entrepreneurial ideas.

At Neoris headquarters in Miami, Neoris USA President Sam Elfawal welcomed Computer Science students from Coral Gables High School and shared personal insights as to what it takes to be successful in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics—known collectively as “STEM” subjects.

In the true spirit of global entrepreneurship, students participating in NEOfrontiers Day around the globe linked up via video conference to hear messages from Elfawal and members of the senior management team in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Students were able to see firsthand how a global enterprise embraces diversity by overcoming time zone, language and culture challenges in order to collaborate on projects around the world.

“We know how important it is to expose young people to STEM careers in order to give them the awareness and encouragement to pursue them in the future," said Sam Elfawal, Neoris USA President. “We hope to inspire new ideas and innovations that will allow the students to envision them in their future career path.”

STEM careers play a significant role on the U.S. economy, accounting for 26 million jobs—20% of the workforce—in the U.S. alone, according to a Brookings study. In today’s technology-driven workforce, these are key skills that are in high demand by employers. Education needs to begin at the high school level and that’s why Neoris celebrates NEOfrontiers Day around the world.

For the third edition of NEOfrontiers Day, students visited the Neoris offices in Miami (USA), Madrid (Spain), Monterrey (Mexico), Rosario (Argentina) and Sao Paulo (Brazil) to job shadow designated Neoris mentors in order to discover the work place and see first-hand the different careers they can choose from in the business and IT consulting space. This global corporate social responsibility initiative aims to support the growth of entrepreneurship, as well as celebrate education in the business and technology industry. Neoris launched the program in 2010 and has since hosted “JA Job Shadow” days at its offices worldwide.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world’s largest celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship, with an estimated 7.5 million people in 140 countries around the world participating.
