On November 17, 2013 Airbus announced from the Dubai Airshow that the airline Emirates orders 50 additional Airbus A380 aircraft. With this order, defence and security company Saab - supplying the mid and outer fixed wing leading edge to the A380 aircraft - secures an order intake of 580 MSEK and confirmed production until 2018.
In June 2003, Saab signed a framework agreement with Airbus for the development and production of the mid and outer fixed wing leading edge of the A380 during the program's life. Emirates order of an additional 50 A380 aircraft means that Saab secures order intake valued to 580 MSEK and production until 2018.

To date, Airbus has received orders for 309 A380 aircraft from 20 customers. Since the signing of the frame work agreement in 2003, Saab has delivered 160 pairs of the mid and outer fixed wing leading edge to Airbus in Broughton, UK, where final assembly of the wings takes place.
At Saab about 500 employees works with the development and production of complex airframe assemblies to the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus. In addition to the mid and outer fixed wing leading edge for the A380 Saab manufactures ailerons and doors to several Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
