Prudential donates $250,000 to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan

NEWARK, N.J.--()--Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE:PRU) today announced that it will donate $250,000 to assist in the relief efforts for survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

In addition, the company has opened its PRUCares Disaster Relief Fund for employee donations to disaster relief organizations. To help maximize contributions, The Prudential Foundation will match all gifts to qualified organizations on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

“Our hearts go out to the millions of people in the Philippines who have suffered devastating loss in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan,” said Lata Reddy, vice president, Corporate Social Responsibility at Prudential and president of The Prudential Foundation. “While the full impact of the storm is still being determined, our funding is intended to help alleviate the immediate needs for water, food and shelter and to distribute other emergency services.”

The $250,000 will be given to UNICEF, the International Rescue Committee and to World Vision to support their efforts to help support immediate relief efforts, especially for children who have been affected by the disaster.
