"Spectacular" Tinley Park Convention Center Satisfies Artists' Discriminating Tastes

Original Sewing & Quilt Show Will Benefit From Natural Lighting, Carpeting

TINLEY PARK, Ill.--()--Thoughts of quilting may inspire visions of a circle of older ladies, creating a countrified blanket. Mark Ingraham knows better – much better. Ingraham, Director of Planning for Creative Crafts Group, has scheduled the Original Sewing & Quilt Show at the Tinley Park Convention Center, November 14-16, because he knows these dedicated artists of all ages consider the Center the perfect venue.

Promoting the event in a 200-mile radius, Ingraham finds the Center, just off I-80 in the comfortable southwest suburb of Chicago, the perfect location. "We listened to what our guests wanted, we understood where they were located, and Tinley Park was perfect. This is the place to satisfy the thirst of major enthusiasts."

The most important element to Ingraham's choice, however, is the Center's profusion of natural light. "Our guests are truly designers and artists. Their passion is the color and texture and look of fabric. The abundance of natural light is so important to accurately seeing all the variations in color and style. You just can't do that in the dark."

"These are discriminating guests, with a higher aesthetic. They want beautiful surroundings, cleanliness and comfort, and this setting is spectacular. As you stand in the pavilion, you're bathed in natural light, looking at a pond with a magnificent fountain. This is exactly what my guests want."

While quilting and sewing is attracting younger designers who seek to construct, embellish and embroider creating exclusive textiles, there are, of course, a core of older participants. That's where another of the Center's one-of-a-kind assets offers an additional benefit: carpeting. "The entire floor has carpeting already installed. With twitchy hips and knees, carpet is so much better than concrete to walk and stand around all day. It's much warmer and more comfortable."

The adjacent Holiday Inn Hotel is also a plus, as many guests stay for the Show's three-day run and demand quality accommodations. Vendors and guests also enjoy the wide variety of "fun and very good" restaurants around the Center.

"There is no better place to see quilts than in the pavilion at the Tinley Park Convention Center."
